| Founded in 1919, the City of Inverness is located on the east side of Citrus County Florida. Situated as the county seat of government, Inverness is widely known for its historic areas.
The old courthouse, built in 1912, sits in the heart of old downtown.
A museum dedicated to historic downtown Inverness is located on the first floor of the old courthouse which has been renovated back to its original glory.
Right down the road from the courthouse is another famous landmark in Inverness, Cooter Pond.
With a stunning fountain in the center of the pond, residents have access to the spectacular view thanks to the new boardwalk that stretches out over the water.

Every year, residents have an arts and crafts festival called Cooter Festival.
This has become one of the areas most popular events.
Covering about seven square miles, this rolling countryside is dotted with lakes, rivers and ponds. Bordering the east side of Inverness is the Lake Tsala Apopka Chain offering some of the best fishing and boating opportunities around.

Located at the south western border of this town is the Withlacoochee National Forest.

The forest occupies thousands of acres of protected wildlife habitats populated with deer, squirrel, bobcat, bear, birds, reptiles, and occasionally the Florida panther can all be seen in these woods.
